PeaZip 1.7 released

This release introduces several small updates and fixes. New features includes keyboard shortcuts for "create archive" and "browse archive" interfaces, quick access to "archive and send by mail" functions (requires compatible mail client) and, most notably, the introduction of new options to save archive browser's settings and to very flexibly define output paths for compression and extraction actions.
Windows users now can access some of the program's functions from context menu (alongside the entries in SendTo menu); Linux users can benefit from UPX compression of gwrap and pea binaries, which saves about 4 MB of space against the previous release.

PeaZip 1.6 released today

This update introduces many usability and functionality updates suggested by users, as well updates in the look and feel of the application, including new multiple resolution icons.
Notably, the Windows installer was extensively rewritten, allowing better control of file associations and SendTo entries.
Job's graphic wrapper now features progress bar and stop button. Password related fields are now better placed and password text can be hidden (requiring password confirmation) or shown; missing password is automatically asked when extracting an encrypted archive.
Quick functions were created to add each input object to a separate zip or 7z archive from context menu.

PeaZip 1.5

This update was originally intended as an intermediate release but soon many important updates were collected and the work was promoted to a new release.
Notably, PAQ and QUAD frontend were updated to support latest executables and to introduce various improvements; a bugfix in Linux version's GUI allows to access to fine grained compression options for 7z-supported formats; a new multi-resolution Windows icon was created for archive types supported by PeaZip, including an high definition icon for Windows Vista.

Released PeaZip 1.4

This update introduces a better finished and better integrated look and feel, nearing the definitive UI I have in mind for PeaZip. Various usability and functionality improvements are introduced as well, thanking also many good and valuable suggestions given by users of previous versions of the program.
I's now posible to archive data in TAR archive before sending it to any other archive or compressor type; Strip and UPX frontend is also added to reduce executable size (this feature is mainly developers-oriented) and it's introduced full support to QUAD compression format.
The program was successfully tested on Windows Vista; all Linux pakages now contains .desktop files and instructions to integrate the application in FreeDesktop compliant environments, like Gnome and KDE.

PeaZip 1.3

Friday I published PeaZip 1.3, after a couple of weeks only from 1.2 version publication.
I was glad to have been able to complete frontend for 7z utility, adding support to in-archive add/update and delete operation, and improving extract and run feature on Windows, now displaying "Open with" dialog if file association is not resolved.
Moreover, I added create, browse and extract support to PAQ8F and PAQ8JD, two experimental compressors giving exceptionally high compression ratios.
I felt 1.3 version mature for publication and bringing interesting new features, so I didn't waited too much to publish it, after have performed needed testing on different Windows and Linux systems.

PeaZip 1.2

After three months of work, PeaZip 1.2 release is out; IMHO it's growing up well as an interesting project!
Below, SourceForge's "News" posts of the last two version, explaining the roadmap followed in the development.

1.2
This update is focused in enhancing archives management; a navigational browser and an alternative multiple inclusion and exclusion filtering mechanism are introduced to explore and selectively extract archive's contents.
7za, used in 1.0 and 1.1 versions as backend application to support many common archive types, is now replaced by 7z, that allows to browse/extract more archive types (ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, ISO, LZH, RAR, RPM, Z, Nsis executables, most of OpenOffice native file formats etc) while the full supported archive types remains the same (7Z, BZ2, GZ, PEA, split, TAR, ZIP).
For archive creation, 7Z format is now set as the default one, being it the more complete and overall best archiving format supported.

1.1
This update is focused in giving the program more usability, through many UI improvements and fixes.
Windows version now runs fine also on 9x systems; most used functions as add to archive or extract here are accessible from shortcuts in SendTo menu; Windows installer now asks for optionally creating additional file associations.
For Linux is now available also a Gtk2 build (and the traditional build for Gtk1).
Both Linux versions are standalone, you just need to unpack and run them; for look and feel differences from Gtk1 and Gtk2 PeaZip build you can see this page.
